Top Reasons to be Excited for Fall

By Kristen Mercure

Do you smell that?  The mild crispness in the air?  Or maybe you see a brief flash of orange in the tree canopy?  Or perhaps your ears detect a subtle crunch of leaves on your morning stroll?  First day of school is just around the corner, which means we’ll soon welcome autumn into our year.  Some may be sad to bid summer adieu, so we thought you could do with a reminder of what makes fall so exciting:

  • Cooler nights!
  • Sweater weather – warm sweaters, blazers, scarves! Bring on the layers!
  • Foliage – reds, oranges, yellows!
  • Jumping into piles of leaves!
  • Apple picking!
  • Thick socks!
  • Pumpkin Spice!
  • Flannel (Or is this just a Vermont thing?)!
  • Hot apple cider! And Hot Apple Cider donuts!
  • Frost on the windows!
  • Caramel apples!
  • #2 pencils and all other school supplies (I can’t be the only one who loves it, right?)
  • Snuggling under a warm blanket!
  • Bobbing for apples!
  • Halloween!
  • Pumpkin carving!
  • Stews, soups, and stoups!
  • Baking – breads, pies, cakes
  • Bonfires and wood smoke!
  • Sipping a Pumpkin Spice latte on the porch of our Visitors Center and Café!
  • Turkey!
  • Thankfulness!
  • And of course…Pumpkin Spice!

What did we leave out?  What makes fall the perfect time of year for you?
