Every spring, I look forward to Opening Day. There’s just something about when the calendar flips to April that makes me yearn for baseball. Maybe it’s the turn of the weather, or maybe it’s time for my annual filling of peanuts and Cracker Jacks… Whatever the case, I’m ready!
One of my favorite baseball memories was when my Dad took me to Opening Day. We ventured out to Boston’s Fenway district, and took in the game at the old ball park. I have no idea what the score was, or who even won the game. But I will always remember hanging with my dad, the sun on my face, holding my leather glove waiting for a foul ball, and my soft-serve ice cream in a mini baseball helmet bowl.
I guess that’s why they say that Baseball is the National Pastime. Everyone seems to have a nostalgic memory like that.
This year, I will watch the first ball game this year on my couch, while indulging in a few cream sodas. Yup, a few old-time drinks watching the old-time game. With my Keurig® KOLD™ Drinkmaker , I’m headed straight for my “go-to”, a Flynn’s™ Soda Shop Vanilla Cream. Another favorite is Flynn’s™ Soda Shop Root Beer! I might not have tickets to opening day, and I don’t think I can get a soft-serve in a hat, but I sure can watch my TV with a vintage, fountain-style soda in my hand!
