In celebration of National Pie Day today, we wanted to share one of our favorite pies with you – the official pie of Massachusetts: Boston Cream Pie. Oh, the luscious layers of sponge cake, creamy vanilla custard filling, all topped off with a velvety chocolate ganache. Sigh!
Just thinking of this rich, decadent pie, created by a French chef in 1856 at the Parker House Hotel in Boston, makes us want to stop what we’re doing and find a bakery, pronto.
Ironically, Boston Cream Pie is technically not even a pie, but rather a cake! Crazy, right?
Either way you slice it, we’re sure glad there is a special day dedicated to all pies everywhere, even ones that actually aren’t pies at all!
