Latte with Sweet Strawberry Syrup

By Dana Routhier

In honor of the Fourth of July, we’ve dreamt up this deliciously sweet and whimsical latte that brings to mind neighborhood block parties, festive parades, kids catching fireflies, and of course sparklers and fireworks. Can a latte really recreate that feeling of nostalgic, unbridled celebration of family and friends and summer? Yes! And the best part is, you can make it right at home with your Keurig® brewer, hot or iced. Yum.

Latte with Sweet Strawberry Syrup

To make the strawberry syrup:

1 pint ripe strawberries

1/2 cup sugar

3 Tablespoons lemon juice

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Hull strawberries and slice. Combine strawberries with sugar in an 8″ square glass or ceramic baking dish, stirring gently to mix well. Roast for 8 minutes, or until just soft. Let cool slightly. Puree in a food processor with lemon juice, and let cool to room temperature.

(Bonus tip: Drizzle any leftover syrup over vanilla ice cream, toss in some fresh blueberries, and add a dollop of whipped cream for an instantly festive sundae!)

To make the latte:

3 Tablespoons strawberry syrup

1 K-Cup® pod, we used Green Mountain Coffee® Summer Sunrise

8 oz steamed and frothed milk

Spoon the strawberry syrup into a large glass mug. Use your Keurig® brewer to brew coffee at a 4 oz setting into the glass mug. Meanwhile, heat milk slowly over medium-low heat, just until it becomes slightly bubbly and foamy. Use a hand frother to froth milk to a rich and creamy consistency. Pour over coffee, whisk latte together, and enjoy!
